At the main headquarter of the Gorran Movement in Slemani, several executive body members of the Gorran Movement welcomed the PUK delegation and discussed unification of the Kurdistani stance in Baghdad during the negotiations of forming the new government of Iraq following the latest Iraqi Council of Representatives election which was held on October 10th.

In a statement to the media, Dr. Soran Jamal Taher, PUK Politburo member and Head of Relations Bureau, stated, “our discussions with friends from the Gorran Movement and the Kurdistan Islamic Union is to further cooperate and conclude our previous discussions with the Kurdistani parties to consult each other and produce a unified speech of Kurds in Baghdad”

He also said, “we reaffirmed the necessity of a single team of Kurds in Baghdad for defending the constitutional rights of our nation and also for mutual understanding regarding the elections law as a beginning for starting the preparations for the Kurdistan parliamentary election which is to be held next year”

During the delegation’s visit to the Kurdistan Islamic Union, several leadership council members of the Kurdistan Islamic Union welcomed the PUK Politburo delegation and both sides stressed the latest security and political developments, the challenges facing the formation of the new Iraqi government, the preservation of unity among the political parties, as well as unification of PUK and KIU perspectives regarding the high interests of our nation.

In another aspect of the meeting, the local situation of the Kurdistan Region, preparations for the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan Region, reaching a mutual perspective among PUK, KIU, and all of the political parties, as well as strengthening the relations were highly regarded.
