Iraq's new parliament to hold first session on January 9

Iraqi Presidency Office said on Thursday, December 30, that the country’s new parliament should hold its first session on January 9.

The office released a decree based on articles 54 and 73 of the Iraqi constitution for the approval of the election’s result by the Federal Supreme Court, the office invited the elected MPs to attend the session led by the eldest MP in the parliament.

The office also said that the decree will be implemented and will be published by the country’s official newspaper.

On Tuesday, the Federal Supreme Court signed and released the final list of elected PM from October’s parliamentary elections.
