The suspects were allegedly responsible for managing the finances of armed actions and for sending money to ISIS inside and outside of Iraq, according to the media cell.

"The detainees were asking young people through social media to contact ISIS and publish video lessons on social media on how to make explosives and bombs,” the cell reported.

In December 2017, Iraqi federal security forces, in cooperation with Peshmerga and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and aided by Coalition air strikes, declared victory over ISIS.

Since then, the militant group has resorted to guerilla hit-and-run tactics but remains a potent threat in some parts of the country.
