Australian official in Iraq stresses on expanding cooperation with Peshmerga ministry

The Australian military attaché in Iraq stressed, during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region, that his country is willing to expand cooperation with the Ministry of Peshmerga.

According to Kurdistan TV, military ties between the region and Australia and relations between the Peshmerga Ministry and the government Central Iraq was discussed during a meeting in Erbil between the Deputy Minister of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region, General Lezgin, and General Chris, Military Attaché of the Australian Embassy in Iraq.

During the meeting, General Chris stressed that his country is seeking to expand relations and cooperation with the Peshmerga Ministry and is ready to conduct military training courses for Peshmerga forces inside and outside the region.

The formation of joint forces between the Peshmerga Ministry and the Iraqi Army was also discussed during the meeting.

Lezgin stressed on the need to expand cooperation between the Peshmerga Ministry and the Australian Ministry, especially in strengthening the capabilities of the Peshmerga forces, and said that the two sides are partners in the fight against the ISIS.
