Kurdistan Region oil sales through Iran is above 30,000 BDP

The Deputy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Tehran, Nazim Dabbagh, said on Tuesday, February 22, the Kurdish region sells about 30,000 to 35,000 barrels of oil daily through Iran.

Dabbagh told the Voice of America that oil is sold through business people, not Iran’s government.

Regarding the KRG’s oil sale to Afghanistan and Armenia, he said that he has not been informed on the situation in his role with the KRG but has heard about the sales the same as other members of the public.

Dabbagh said Iran’s view of the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court’s recent decision on the Kurdistan Region’s independent oil sales is that it is Iraq’s domestic issue.

The Federal Supreme Court issued a verdict last week that the KRG law on the independent sale of the Region’s oil and natural gas was against the Iraqi constitution.
