Fathullah Husseini said in response to a Kurdpress question that Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's silence in the wake of Russian invasion of Ukraine did not pave the way for a new agreement on Turkish re-invasion of Syrian Kurdistan that the Syrian Democratic Assembly, and the Ashti Party sought an alliance in Russia before the war, but the events in Ukraine delayed the alliance.
He continued: "This war will reduce Russia's activity on Syrian soil, but it does not mean that the situation of Turkey on Syrian soil will be strengthened or that Turkey will find a new opportunity to attack Syria."
Mr. Husseini went on to add: "Turkey has not yet made its position clear to either NATO or Russia, and this is in the interest of the Kurds in Syria."
"This war is not in anyone's interest, but Turkey has not reduced its verbal threats, and we think that Turkey will not be able to launch a new attack on Syrian Kurdistan," he said.
