On Sunday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for Saturday's strike, saying the missile attack targeted Israeli facilities in Erbil.
The Iraqi government should "take the necessary measures by submitting a complaint to the UN Security Council regarding violations of Iraq's sovereignty," the council said in a statement.
Calling for Iraq to be respected and not to be a battlefield for countries, the statement urged the Iraqi parliament and the international community to "take a serious and decisive stand to put an end to these attacks."
Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi arrived in Erbil alongside a high-level security delegation for talks with KRG officials, according to the Iraqi state news agency.
Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani stressed during a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi in Erbil that there are no Israeli bases in the region.
According to the official website of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Barzani met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and his accompanying delegation who visited Erbil on Monday, March 14. The Sunday missile attack on Erbil was the main focus of the talks, and the two sides stressed that the attack was a serious threat and a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty, and that it threatened the security and stability of all Iraqis.
Kadhimi stressed that Iraq was seriously concerned about the missile attack on Erbil and had come to Erbil to be on the side of the region, making the trip in support of the autonomous region in the north, and expressed hope that if there were any problems, it would be solved through understanding.
Barzani also underscored that there are no Israeli centers and bases in the Kurdistan region and called the reports in this regard as baseless justification.
He described Kadhimi's visit to Erbil as a sign of his support for the region, stressing that the region has always been and will continue to be a factor of stability, and that he attaches special importance to Iraq's relations with other countries.
The two sides stressed on the need for joint cooperation and announced that they would announce the results of the Erbil-Baghdad Joint Committee's investigation into the recent attack on Erbil to the public.
