Former Turkish Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis believes that the United States will continue to support the Syrian Kurds.

In an article published in the English-language Arab News, he discussed the possibility of selling US F-16 fighter jets to Turkey and its impact on Washington's relations with the Syrian Kurdish forces, whom Ankara considers to be affiliated with the PKK.

The former Turkish foreign minister stressed that regardless of the sale or on deal in the selling of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, Washington is likely to continue its support to the Syrian Kurds.

However, he stressed that Russia's involvement in the war with Ukraine has affected and suspended coordination between Moscow and Washington in Syria.
