As a result of attempts made by Iranian and Iraqi officials, trade exchanges in Haj Omran (Tamarchin) border crossing in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province, has doubled, Iranian Consul General in Erbil Morteza Ebadi said.

According to IRNA he made the remarks in a meeting with Fazil Mirani, Secretary General of Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) political bureau.

The Iranian official expressed Iran's support for stability in Iraq and the Kurdish region.

During the meeting, Mirani for his part expressed satisfaction with the current level of relations and called for development of trade ties with Iran.
