The candidate of two Kurdistani parties for Iraq presidency will be announced in near future: KDP official

A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) announced an agreement has been made between the two Kurdistani parties of the KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on a joint candidate for the post of Iraqi presidency and his introduction in a near future.

According to Al-Firat News news agency, Ali Faili said in a TV interview: "The Kurdistan Democratic Party will reach an agreement with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in the next few days to introduce a candidate for the presidency of Iraq."
Faili explained: "The meaning of an agreed candidate is that the PUK will abandon the nomination of Barham Salih for the second term of the presidency, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, in return, will introduce an acceptable figure in the region and the international community to hold this position."
He emphasized on the determination and consensus of the two parties to introduce an agreed candidate for the presidency of Iraq based in a week.
