Iraqi Prime Minister, Parliamentary speaker warn of Iraq’s political crisis

Iraqi Caretaker Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and Parliamentary speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi amid a conference on Saturday, August 27, that took place in Baghdad warned of Iraq’s political crisis.

Prime Minister Kadhimi amid his participation in the Islamic conference to confront violence against women made a remark and talked about the ongoing political crisis in the country, according to the state news agency INA.

“Our people feel excessive concern, the ongoing political crisis shall not be continued, it threatening the country’s security,” adding “the key solution is parties to assemble on the dialogue table,” Kadhimi said.

“We need more and more dialogue, the people need swift reform, initiating national dialogue is the right way to reach a solution” Kadhimi added.

In the meantime, INA reported that Parliamentary speaker as well, Mohammed al-Halbousi amid the same occasion, while making remarks stressed the necessity of national dialogue.

“Iraq’s situation should not continue in this way, we have retreated from what we had reached before,” Halbosui said.

As Iraq’s political stalemate continues to hit a record time since an election in October, the country has been left without a government, the more undermining the caretaker government, and Halbosui warned of its danger.

“The government will no longer be able to provide any expenditures without the budget law by the end of this year,” He said.
