Sadr wants current caretaker government to remain in place: Iraqi MP

An Iraqi MP from the Coordination Framework Jabbar al-Mamouri claimed on Sunday, August 28, the leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, wants to keep the current caretaker government in power.

Mamouri told Iraqi local media outlets that he believes Sadr wants outgoing PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi to remain the prime minister of the country.
He said Sadr has no future plans for Iraq and alleged he has controlled the country through the central bank.
Mamouri also comment on Salih Mohammed, who is known as the minister of Sadr, asking, "Who is he? Is he one person or three?”
On Saturday Mohammed announced a 72-hour deadline over a new proposal from the movement on early elections.
Under the terms of the proposal, parties who has taken control of the government after the year 2003 would not participate in early elections.
