Iraq’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs said that the Ministry has decided to halt giving visas to foreign workers, he said in a statement.
Elaborating more on the decision he added in the statement that they are in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Migration, making the decision together.
According to the mandate, Iraq will no longer give visas to foreign workers where they usually find a job in the country while the locals struggle to find one.
He also stated the mandate is valid for all foreign workers across the globe except for those who have already received permission previously from the Ministry.
Iraq’s Ministry of Labor recently suggested that there are more than a million foreign workers in the country, and among whom many do not hold a permit or have legal documents.
