<p style="text-align: left;">Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo described occupation of Palestine as the root cause of all regional crises, saying that US recognition of Beit ul-Moqaddas as the capital of the Israeli regime amounts to efforts to legitimize occupation.

Addressing a meeting of the UN General Assembly on Friday themed &lsquo;Culture of Peace&rsquo;, he appreciated UN secretary-general for his report on the implementation of Iran&rsquo;s proposed resolution &lsquo;World Against Violence and Extremism&rsquo;.

Urging all nations to heed the results and consequences of their acts on the fragile situation of peace in the world, he condemned certain countries&rsquo; efforts to legitimize occupation of the Land of Palestine.

Iran&rsquo;s permanent envoy in the UN further pointed out, endeavors for denying undisputable rights of the Palestinian people, including that of Holy Quds, Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, will further worsen the situation.

Denouncing US recognition of Beit ul-Moqaddas as the capital of the Zionist regime and its plan to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Quds, Khoshroo described US efforts to consolidate the situation as illegal.

The move, he opined, exposes US&rsquo; hypocritical policies regarding peace and stability in the Middle East and its disregard towards the basic international laws and Palestinian nation&rsquo;s rights to support the Zionist regime.

Khoshroo said that the international community, the US and the Zionist regime are all responsible for dangerous consequences of the irresponsible and illegal move.

In the course of history, occupation and peace have never been together and regarding the issue of Palestine, until the time occupation continues, no peace will be at work, he said.

Contending that certain countries prefer sanctions and bullying to diplomacy and dialogue, he said words and actions of the countries contribute to extremism and undermine culture of peace and compromise.

Referring to the recent defeat of Daesh and terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq, Khoshroo described it as a turning point for the peace in the region in the wake of the Syrian and Iraqi governments and peoples&rsquo; bravery and resistance.

Unlike these military defeats, the ideology and networking producing Daesh are still alive and until the time the world has not been purged from Takfiri ideology, which serves as the source of inspiration for Daesh and other similar terrorist groups, no final victory will be in sight against Daesh and terrorism.
