KDP, Gorran delegation discuss government formation

<p style="text-align: left;">Delegations from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Movement for Change (Gorran) met in Erbil on Wednesday, December 12, to discuss the formation of a new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The Gorran delegation, headed by the party&rsquo;s general coordinator Omer Said Ali, visited Erbil and met with deputy head of the KDP Nechirvan Barzani and a number of other senior officials of the KDP.

According to NRT the two delegations said in a statement released after the meeting that they had discussed ways to improve bilateral ties, given the current stage of the Region.

The statement added that they also traded views on the situation in the so-called "disputed areas," including Kirkuk, and how to resolve that issue in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution.

In terms of forming a new cabinet, both sides said &ldquo;appropriate steps&rdquo; should be taken to improve the lives of the people in the Kurdish region and agreed to follow reforms that would &ldquo;provide stability and certainty, as well as strengthen the Region so that it can bear the challenges [that it faces].&rdquo;

It is worth mentioning that the KDP and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) politburos met a day earlier in Erbil where they stated they would form a committee to work to improve ties.
