Tension over Kirkuk postpones KDP, PUK meeting: deputy

<p style="text-align: left;">A Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) parliament member stated that the planned KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) meeting over the formation of the new government in Kurdistan Region was postponed due to a tension between the two parties over the Kurdish-majority province of Kirkuk.

Idris Ismaeil told Baghdad al-Yaum news agency that the KDP postponed the meeting in protest over discussing the issue of Kirkuk in its talks with the PUK. The meeting was planned to be held this week but it was called off to an unknown date.

He went on to add that the PUK stressed on discussing the fate and the situation of the province in talks over the formation of the new government in the Kurdish region, predicting that the meeting would be held next week.
