The U.S., seeking to withdraw its forces from Syria, has offered the creation of a buffer zone between Turkey and Syria and is now seeking to send forces to the border but the problem still remain unsolved as it is not known which forces would control the region.

U.S. diplomats have told Middle East Eye that Washington plans to send Kurdish Peshmerga Roj forces to border with Syria.

Syrian Kurdish forces who control northern Syria are against the deployment of Roj forces as they belong to the sides and groups that are the opposition to the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the party that control northern Syria.

A Syrian opposition source has told Middle East Eye that the Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG), the armed branch of the PYD, is strongly against the return of Peshmerga Roj forces to northern Syria.

Roj Peshmerga spokesman stopped short of commenting on the issue due to the sensitivity of the issue.
