PUK, KDP to meet on Saturday to discuss government formation: official

<p style="text-align: left;">The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) will hold another round of government formation talks on Saturday, a PUK official said on Friday, March 29.

Executive head of the PUK's politburo Qadir Hama Jan told the party-affiliated media that PUK and KDP would meet on Saturday.

The parties met in Sulaimani for talks on Wednesday, but failed to reach an agreement on the formation of the new cabinet.

The two parties signed a political agreement on March 4, but little was revealed about the substance at the time and there has been little public progress towards forming a government since then.

Also on Saturday, Parliament will meet in Erbil to take up legislation that would reactive the Kurdistan Region's presidency law, a key priority of the KDP.
