Dr. Yazid Saeq told Kurdpress in an interview about the situation in Syria that the IS threat is not totally over though it has been almost defeated but it is controlling some parts of the country and the threat of possible IS control over Iraq threatens Syria and the Kurdish-controlled regions.
The Kurds in Syria demand political autonomy from Damascus but neither the Syrian central government nor the opposition are ready to accept it, he further added.
Answering a question about possible Syria operation against the Kurdish forces in the north, the researcher stated that the presence of the US forces in Tanf region hinders possible Damascus operation against the Kurds, Saeq went on to add that the presence of the US forces in Syria also prevent possible Turkey attacks into Syria.
He finally urged Kurds to make deal with the central government in Damascus, stressing that Russia like the possible scenario but the problem is that Moscow does not enjoy that necessary power the convince both Turkey and Syria to accept Kremlin offers over the reform of Syria constitution which can convince the Kurds to reach a deal with Russia.
