The report also claimed that Turkey has constructed a 560 KM-long wall on its border with Afrin enclave. After completing the entire wall, it will be a 711 km barrier, Ahval reported.
Turkey and its allied Syrian rebels attacked Afrin in January 2018 and pushed the Kurdish forces of People’s Protection Units (YPG) out of the area after three months of fierce fightings.
Ankara sees the YPG as an offspring of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which is designated as a “terrorist organization” by Turkey.
Turkish and Syrian Islamist rebels are criticized by international organizations of widespread human rights violations. The Turkish intervention in Syrian Kurdistan has so far led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of the indigenous people from Afrin.
