Earlier the day, several Katyusha rockets fell in the middle of the Green Zone, resulting in no casualties or damages to the area, reports said.
Iraqi Police said that it had found a rocket launcher in the district of al-Sina'a, eastern Baghdad, as cited by Kurdistan 24.
A police source explained to AFP that initial investigations indicate that the rockets were "fired from an open field," near Baghdad.
Badir al-Ziyadi, an Iraqi lawmaker and member of the security committee, said in a statement that he believes the attack was not attempted to target the US embassy in Iraq, but that it was an indirect message to the Iraqi parliament and government, as well.
The people of Iraq are not fond of the Council of Representatives and the government, he said, without giving further details in this regard.
