Families visit jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan

<p style="text-align: left;">Turkish authorities allowed family members to visit Abdullah Ocalan, the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), and three fellow PKK-member inmates on Imrali island for the Muslim holiday of Eid, Mezopotamya news agency reported on Wednesday.

Mehmet Ocalan, who visited his brother Abdullah this past January and in September 2016, headed to Imrali island on Wednesday morning with family members of the other prisoners.

Several other prisoners are allowed to stay with Ocalan on Imrali island, off the coast of Istanbul. The previous prisoners were replaced by new ones in March 2015, during peace talks between the PKK and the Turkish government, Ahval news agency reported.

Hamili Yildirim, Omer Hayri Konar, and Veysel Aktas, fellow PKK members called Ocalan&rsquo;s secretariat by pro-Kurdish media, are meeting their family members for the first time since their arrival on Imrali.

The Turkish government lifted visitation restrictions on Ocalan early in May, which prompted speculations that Ankara might be aiming to revive the peace process that ended in July 2015.
