KRG denies being behind Iran protests

<p style="text-align: left;">Spokesperson of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Safeen Dizayee denied on Saturday, January 7, claims by a Tehran official that Erbil is behind recent protests in Iran.

&ldquo; We categorically deny such baseless and fabricated accusations,&rdquo; Dizayee said in a statement on the official website of KRG, regarding the protests in the country, NRT reported.

Dizayee made the remarks in response to the claims made by the Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohsen Rezaee, NRT said in a report.

&ldquo; The Kurdistan Region has shown in practice that it has always been, and remains, a factor for peace and stability. The Kurdistan Region has never been, nor will it try to be, the cause of disturbance and unrest in its neighboring countries,&rdquo; said Dizayee.

Dizayee expressed concerns that such accusations go against efforts to bring about neighborly relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran.
