HDP spokesman Osman Baydemir released

<p style="text-align: left;">Osman Baydemir, the spokesman of Turkey pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), was released on Sunday, January 7, one day after his detention in Izmir over charges of allegedly organizing &amp;ldquo;illegal&amp;rdquo; meetings and gatherings.

He was released after testifying earlier on Sunday during a court hearing in Sirnak via video link, NRT said.

Turkish police arrested Baydemir over a verdict issued against him on December 27 in Izmir where he was attending HDP activities.

Selahattin Demirtas, HDP co-leader, was detained in a police raid on November 4, last year and has been in jail since then, pending trial. He recently announced he intends to quit the party.
