Hedye Yusef, a member of the executive council of the PYD, hailed the role of the PKK in gaining and preserving the achievements of the Syrian Kurds, saying that this is an undeniable fact.
"The PKK is the biggest inspiration for the Syrian Kurdish movement and the preserver of their achievements in the face of all attacks," Hedye Yusef told Hawar News, adding that "the PKK is our source of inspiration and power and we cannot deny it. What has been achieved in Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) for Kurds, Arabs and Syrians is owed to PKK forces."
Regarding the pivotal role of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan's thoughts in the Syrian Kurdish ideology, she said: "the people of Syrian Kurdistan have fought around Abdullah Ocalan's paradigm, and this is undeniable. The capitalist system knows this. The United States, Russia and Europe know that."
The member of the PYD Executive Council added: "The reality in Syrian Kurdistan and the democratic nation-state is based on Ocalan's paradigm and philosophy, and those who fight the Jabhat al-Nusra, ISIS militants and the occupying Turkish army are the PKK fighters."
Syrian Kurdish forces, however, have always insisted that they have no organic ties with the PKK, and the Turkish government is attacking Syrian Kurdistan under the pretext of their links with the PKK and putting political and military pressure on the Kurdish forces.
