Two Turkish helicopters shot down over Afrin in 12 hours

<p style="text-align:left">Syrian Kurdish fighters said on Sunday, February 11, that they shot down two Turkish helicopters in the last 12 hours over Afrin killing 11 Turkish soldiers, including military personnel on board.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a statement that the second Turkish helicopter of Sikorsky-type crashed after coming under fire from the Kurdish fighters in northeastern Syrian town of Afrin.

Nine Turkish soldiers, including officials on board were killed in the second attack, the SDF said.

According to NRT the SDF said the helicopters were shot down over Rajo district in Afrin, a Kurdish-held town which is under attack by Turkish military and allied rebels since January 20.

In a televised speech, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim confirmed the crash of the first helicopter saying "At this stage, we can say that one out of two helicopters was downed. We have two martyrs.&rdquo;
