Turkish army shells Afrin city center

<p style="text-align: left;">Turkish military and their allied rebels shelled the city center of Afrin, in northern Syria, with artillery on Tuesday, Hawar News Agency reported.

The bombardment targeted Afrin hospital inside the city, killing and wounding a number of civilians including children, according to initial reports.

The agency reported several shells fell inside the city.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted between the Syrian Democratic Fighters (SDF) and Turkish army in the village of Shikurza in Bulbul district and the Serenjaka village in Shira district in the Afrin region, NRT reported.

According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 152 Kurdish fighters and 165 Turkey-backed Syrian rebels have died in Turkey operation in Afrin.

The observatory said at least 74 civilians have been killed so far, although the Afrin health department reports at least four times as many.

The Turkish army said on Monday that 31 Turkish soldiers had been killed and 143 others wounded since Ankara launched its offensive against the Kurdish forces in Syria last month.
