The Head of the university’s Kurdish Language and Literature Department, Dr. Bakhtiar Sajadi, told Kurdpress that a prominent Kurdish literary figure, Adulrahim Rahmi Hakkari, wrote the first Kurdish play in 1918 after the war was over.
The play, ‘Mam of Alan,’ was released in the early months of 1919, Sajadi said, adding that the upcoming ceremony is to put emphasis on the play in Kurdish language and literature.
The author of the play was one of the most effective Kurdish literary figures and a close friend of Badia ul-Zaman Kurdi, he said, revealing that students in the university are planned to play ‘Mam of Alan’.
Sajadi also added plays written in different Kurdish language dialects would be honored, reiterating that the ceremony is to stress on playwriting in Kurdish language.
