The KDP official website reported that Barzani congratulated the new US president on his inauguration and expressed hope for the expansion of relations between the Kurdistan region and the country.

Matthew Toller also stressed the need to continue coordination with the Kurdistan Region and his country's continued support for the region's Peshmerga forces.

The two sides also discussed the political situation and the latest developments in the region and relations between Erbil and Baghdad.
