Five Turkish soldiers killed in PKK attack in Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align: left;">Five Turkish soldiers were killed on Tuesday, April 17, in an attack launched by the People's Defense Force (HPG), the armed wing of the PKK, in the Kurdistan Region.

The media center of the HPG issued a statement on Wednesday saying its fighters engaged in an activity against Turkish army in Barzan area at 6:30 a.m. in the morning on Tuesday, NRT reported.

HPG announced destroying three positions of the Turkish army and killing five Turkish soldiers.

The three-decade armed struggle by the Kurdistan Workers&rsquo; Party (PKK) against the Turkish government flared up again in 2015 after the collapse of a two-year cease-fire and settlement process, plunging Turkey's predominantly Kurdish southeast back into open conflict between Turkish security forces and the PKK.
