Restricted weapons provided for Syrian Kurds: commander

<p style="text-align:left">A commander of the anti-IS coalition operation has stated that some arms have been provided for Kurdish forces in Syria but the weapons have been provided restrictly, for special purposes.

The U.S.-led coalition support to Kurd in Syria has infurated Turkey which considers the forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
A number of limited arms have been sent to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the weapons are used for conducting special missions, Jimmy Gerard has told Sputnik news agency.
The commander added that the coalition constantly assesses the level of support to the forces.
Commenting on reports over U.S. creation of military bases in the Syrian Kurdish town of Hassake, Gerard stated the coalition has provided necesities to the local people in order to defeat the IS and defend their own.
The commander refuted to comment on the replacement of French forces in northern Syria in case U.S. troops quit the war-torn country.
