Kurds are big losers in possible US withdrawal from Syria, says think tank

The Atlantic Council think tank has announced an increase in the possibility of a complete US withdrawal from northeastern Syria, with the Kurds and the Syrian Democratic Forces as the big losers.

In an analysis on the withdrawal of US troops from Syria, particularly in the Kurdish-controlled region of Syria, the Atlantic Council think tank noted increased pressure on the United States and President Donald Trump's willingness to withdraw from the region.

The think tank believes that Trump has no interest in keeping US troops in Syria, and that a full withdrawal would help his domestic propaganda, so it is not unlikely that the withdrawal of US troops from northern Syria will be raised again before the presidential election.

Of course, the think tank has emphasized that some institutions, such as the US Department of Defense, are against this issue, but Trump, despite the negative effects of the withdrawal of these forces, is willing to withdraw completely from Syria.

The Atlantic Council considers the Kurds and the Syrian Democratic Forces as the biggest losers in possible withdrawal of US troops from northeastern Syria, and emphasizes that they will face serious challenges with the withdrawal of US troops, the most important of which is Turkey.

The think tank notes that all actors in Syria, including Russia, Turkey and the Syrian government, will be happy with the exit, and that the Kurds will have very limited choices.

According to the Atlantic Council analysis, the Kurds will be forced to seek refuge in Russia to get rid of Turkey with the withdrawal of the United States, and will also try to reach an agreement with Damascus.
