<p style="text-align: left;">US Special Presidential Envoy Brett McGurk met Kurdistan Region political parties in Sulaimani on Tuesday, May 22,, ten days after the Iraqi parliamentary election.

He met with the parties&rsquo; leaders at Gorran headquarters in Sulaimani&rsquo;s Zargata neighborhood, while he met separately with PUK officials in Dabashan, NRT reported.

They held talks about the results of May 12 elections, the political situation of Iraq and Kurdistan Region as well as the formation of a new Iraqi government and they exchanged views.

The Iraqi parliamentary elections saw a 44 percent of voter turnout on Saturday (May 12).

Around 10 million eligible voters cast their ballots during the election. A total of 24 million Iraqis were eligible to cast their votes to elect members of parliament, who will in turn elect the Iraqi President and Prime Minister.

Iraq&rsquo;s electoral commission introduced an electronic voting and vote counting to eliminate electoral fraud. Several parties, however, complained about the new system, calling for manual counting of votes.
