<p style="text-align: left;">The Iraqi Shi&amp;rsquo;ite bloc of State of Law Coalition, led by vice president Nouri al-Maliki, said on Saturday that it has no objections to a figure from Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) being Iraq&amp;rsquo;s president.

However, Hisham Rakabi, head of Maliki&rsquo;s office, said that no official discussions were held with the Kurdish political parties over the positions of president, prime minister and parliament speaker.
&ldquo; The discussions were mainly focused on the possibility of forming the largest parliamentary coalition,&rdquo; he said.
According to a previous agreement between the KDP and PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan), the latter has received the position of Iraqi president, which is now occupied by Fuad Masoum.
KDP representative to Baghdad, Bilind Ismail, told BasNews earlier that the agreement has terminated after the recent parliamentary election in which his party won the majority in the Kurdistan Region.
&ldquo;A new agreement is needed now. What it will be, how it will be, and who it will be, is a question that could be answered after a new agreement,&rdquo; he pointed out.
