Turkey is seeking to alter northern Syria Kurdish identity to Arabic: commander

<p style="text-align:left">A commander of the Kurdish Peoples&amp;rsquo; Protection Units (YPG) stated Turkey is planning to change the Kurdish identity of northern Syria into Arabic.

Ahmed Qamishlo told Kurdpress in an interview that Turkey is not seeking benevolent goals in northern Syria but is seeking to achieve its inhumane goals in the region.

As the Baathis attempted and followed the Arabization policy in northern Syria, Turkey, too, is seeking to create a 30-kilometer-long safe zone in the region and settle Syrian displaced and prepare the ground to change the ethnic of the region, he stated.

The commander further continued to say that Turkey wants to put into action the same plan it did in Afrin and Jerablus and is seeking to Arabize 600 other kilometers so as there will be no trace of Kurds in the region.

Ahmed Qamishlo also said it is for decades that Turkey is following hostile policies against the Kurds and has deepened its animosity against the Kurds and has always made efforts to make rifts between Kurds and their Arab neighbors.

Many reports have confirmed Turkey has attempted, since the beginning of Syria crisis in 2011, to neglect the entrance of extremists into Syria just to prevent the Kurds from taking power in their region, the commander concluded.
