Shervan Dervish said the YPG military advisors are leaving Manbij and the city would be controlled by Manbij military council and the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), which includes Kurdish, Arab and Armenian forces as well as Turkmen.
He told Kurdpress that the YPG forces had left the city over a deal with allies and Manbij military council, continuing to say that the liberation operation of Manbij started in coordination with the US-led anti-IS coalition and Turkey.
He added that a meeting was held in Turkey’s Incirlik base and the former leader of Manbij military council, Abu Amjed, attended the meeting and Manbij military council was one of the effective forces in the operation.
Dervish further revealed that the YPG stated at the start of the operation that its forces would quit the city after its mission, reiterating that the Manbij was under the control of Manbij military council at the very beginning of its liberation.
The spokesman also told Kurdpress that remarks by Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, and the officials of the country that Turkish forces would go into the city are false and are merely seeking election goals. He denied that any deal has been made to allow Turkish forces to enter Manbij and are remarks and reports are merely media war.
Turkey is going to hold a presidential election later this month.
