The delegation, led by Co-chair Sezai Temelli, briefed Barzani on the current political situation in Turkey as well as the main policies of HDP to counter challenges and find a peaceful solution to the current issues pertaining to the Kurdish question in Turkey.
According to BasNews they commended Barzani’s leading role in the political process of the region, and his commitment to secure the “legitimate right of the Kurdish nation”.
During the discussions, Barzani reiterated that war and violence will be the solution to no issues, including the Kurdish issue. “A peaceful political solution will ultimately succeed,” the readout of the meeting quoted the Kurdish leader as saying.
He further explained that each part of Kurdistan is unique with its characteristics, which obliges the political parties to take these characteristics into consideration.
Barzani also encouraged the HDP to not give up on their struggle for a peaceful resolution to the issues in Turkey. He urged the Kurdish politicians to prevent any move that could turn political disputes into disputes between the Kurds and Turks as nations.
“We spoke of, among other topics, the current political situation of the Kurds in Turkey, hoping for and working in pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish issue there,” Barzani wrote on Twitter.
