Selahattin Demirtas to address people on TV

<p style="text-align: left;">The imprisoned Presidential candidate of Turkey pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtas, who has been held in Edirne Type F Prison since November 4, 2016, will be taken to the studios of the state channel TRT in the capital city of Ankara twice to deliver election speeches before the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on June 24.

According to BIAnet’s website the presidential candidates will deliver two 10-minute speeches: the first one on June 17, when the period of campaigning on the radio and television starts, and the second one on June 23, when the electioneering period ends,.

Demirtas, the first and only Presidential candidate of Turkey behind bars, will be taken twice to the studios of the TRT in the Oran district of Ankara.

Demirtas’s first speech will be broadcast on TRT on June and his second on June 23. Both will be recorded in advance, the report said.

Since the Presidential candidate of the main opposition, the Republican People's Party (CHP) Muharrem Ince, did not make an application to deliver an election speech on TRT, nothing from him will be broadcast on the specified dates.
