Mohammed Rubai’i, a member of Baghdad’s provincial council for security affairs, confirmed the report, revealing that the warehouse belongs to the Ministry of Trade, located in Gaylani district of central Baghdad, BasNews reported.
The number of ballot boxes burnt at the warehouse is not revealed to the media yet.
Firefighters have been deployed to the scene, trying to control the fire.
Some Iraqi officials, including parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri and Vice President Iyad Allawi have called for a re-election after the burning of the warehouse.
