US delegation promises continued military support for Peshmerga

<p style="text-align:left">A US delegation, including military officials and diplomats, visited Erbil on Sunday and reiterated Washington&amp;rsquo;s continued support to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

The remarks were made during a meeting between Kurdistan Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) General Joseph Votel, US Consul-General in the Kurdistan Region Ken Gross and their accompanying delegation, BasNews reported.
&ldquo;They stressed the importance of a military coordination among the coalition, Iraqi and Peshmerga forces, especially in hunting the remnants of IS and eliminating their recent movements in the region. The coordination between the coalition and Peshmerga forces was highly valued and the United States emphasized that they will continue their military support,&rdquo; the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said.
The delegations also discussed the security and political developments in Iraq and the wider region, highlighted the steps towards the formation of the new Iraqi government and the role of the Kurdistan Region in this process.
