KRG, EU to cooperate to speed up reforms in Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align:left">The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and European Union will cooperate to make progress on efforts of reform in the Kurdistan Region, a statement said on Tuesday, June 26.

KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with EU ambassador in Iraq Ramon Blecua and EU representative to the Kurdistan Region Claris Pastori in Erbil on Tuesday, the Council of Ministers said in a statement.
Both sides discussed the current situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the results of the Iraqi parliamentary election, and the areas of potential cooperation between KRG and EU aimed at making progress on the KRG&rsquo;s efforts to achieve reform, NRT reported.
&ldquo;Reforms continue for years,&rdquo; Talabani said according to the statement. &ldquo;It is important for the EU to assist us implementing them.&rdquo;
Regarding the formation of a new cabinet in Iraq, the KRG&rsquo;s statement quoted the EU ambassador as saying &ldquo;If Kurds unite, they would be able to play an important role and have a positive impact on the political process in Iraq.&rdquo;
