Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan on Tuesday described Iran as a valuable ally of Russia, saying that Tehran has always enjoyed a special status in Moscow’s foreign policy.

In a meeting with Majlis speaker's Special Advisor for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, he added that the two countries’ excellent ties are in the interest of the region and global peace and an obstacle in the way of US unilateralism, IRNA reported.
The two countries’ successful cooperation in deescalating Syrian crisis is a major model for restoring regional security and countering warmongering policies, the envoy said.
Dzhagaryan also hailed dialogue between the two countries’ officials for further improvement of mutual cooperation.
Amir-Abdollahian, for his part, hailed Tehran-Moscow growing relations, saying that high-level diplomatic shuttles and high amount of their transactions are indicative of strong bilateral ties.
Criticizing US moves to pressure Iran, he added that attempts to press Iran are aimed at distracting public opinion from its failed policies in the region, but they will in no way manage to affect the Iranian nation’s resolve in its drive for all-out development and contributing to regional and international peace and stability.
US policy to stop Iran’s oil production is doomed to fail, he said.
