Masrour Barzani office releases statement on Pope's visit to Kurdistan Region

The office of Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, issued a statement on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting over this week visit of Pope Francis to the region and stated that "the Pope's visit showed that the Kurdistan Region is an important center of coexistence in the region."

According to Al-Mawrad, the statement added: "The Pope visit to the Kurdistan Region was an important and historic event and showed that the Kurdistan Region is an important center for peaceful coexistence in the region."

According to the statement, Barzani also thanked the organizers and managers of the meeting and the relevant institutions in the Kurdistan Regional Government, especially the security forces, for the successful conduct of the visit.

The statement from Barzani's office also added: "At the cabinet meeting, Peshtiwan Sadiq, the KRG Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, and Safin Dizayee, the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government's foreign relations office, presented independent reports on the results of Pope's visit to Erbil."
