Iran rocket attack at US base in Iraq While U.S. officials had been forced to provide explanations about the delay in announcing the injuries to U.S. soldiers in Iraq after the Revolutionary Guard's rocket attack on the US base in Ain al-Assad, Iraq.
U.S. Defense Department officials said there were no casualties during the rocket attack, The two U.S. officials said it was true that 11 U.S. soldiers had suffered from the attacks, but were postponed to say the reasons for the failure of the U.S. troops to make confessions about the injuries, according to a question and answer provided by an interview conducted by Defense Department Spokesman Jonathan Hoffman and Assistant Secretary of U.S. Defense, Elissa Farah.
Journalists told the two U.S. officials during the interview that some U.S. commanders and even some senior U.S. officials have tried to avoid announcing the injuries of U.S. troops in order to calm the atmosphere and reduce tensions.
Therefore, U.S. officials have tried to prevent media and public opinion from reaching the proper news on the issue. But the two American officials, in justifying the late announcement that U.S. troops had been wounded by an Iranian rocket attack, told reporters the symptoms of late soldiers' brain injuries and that we announced the injuries of American forces within 24 hours after we found out the case.
The two U.S. officials commented on a U.S. commander's comments that Iran's missile strike did not cause casualties. This was the commander's assessment at the time. The symptoms appeared a few days after the attack.
"We're not going to have a chance to go to Afghanistan," said Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman. We corrected these statistics. As soon as the Defence Minister's office learned the wounded toll, it ordered a statement immediately to be issued.
The two American officials confirmed that members of the U.S. government, including the Secretary of Defense and the Vice President of the United States, believe that Iran has launched a rocket attack on its base in Iraq to kill or wounded American forces.
The officials described the type of damage to American soldiers as "brain injury," saying they were sent to U.S. bases in both Germany and Kuwait to further test and care.
The U.S. assesment has been that they will be able to do their military duties again after a while. But most of the questions the journalists asked for the release of their cameras were about the refusal of American officials to give details or possible casualties of U.S. forces. The two American officials have cited the issue as a result of the type of damage. The two U.S. officials said they would provide more details about the issues.
