Thousands of demonstrators held a rally on Sunday in the towns of Hasakeh and Qamishlu, demanding the unity of the Kurdish political movements in Syria.

Several Kurdish parties, including the Communist Party of Kurdistan, the New Kurdistan Party, the Kurdistan Peace Party, the Future Party of Syria, the Democratic Union Party, the Wefaq Party and the Kurdish Leftist Party participated in the rally, according to Kurdpress sources in the region.
The rally came as Syrian Kurdish Patriotic Council and Syria's Progressive Democratic Party (KDP) did not participate in the rally.
The Hasakeh democratic autonomy authorities also staged similar demonstrations that began in the Nasiriyah area and called for unity.
In the final statement of the march, different Kurdish political parties stressed the need to re-formulate ties between Kurds, saying they face a historical responsibility and quickly need national unity to unify their positions and perspectives.
The statement also called on all parties involved in the Kurdish political movement in Syria to hold a comprehensive summit without preconditions for discussing important issues and and establish a comprehensive Kurdish political authority to decide on important issues.
