The DTK referred to the death of American black George Floyd by a police officer and the extensive demonstration against his death in the United States and said "the black people and the Kurds have never remained silent against fascism. Kurds have been subjected, for hundreds of years, to the similar measures we witness in the United States. In other words, the Kurds are the black people of the Middle East. The Turkish and American political systems are the same. Both countries have treated millions of people as "the other" and have made the whole country a large prison through their pressures and threats.
According to the Mezopotamya news agency, the DTK statement continued: "the blacks and Kurds will not remain silent against fascism as they have never remained silent before. Especially since no system in the world has been able to withstand the demands of people for freedom. The Kurds and the blacks will continue to fight until they achieve a human life. To do so, they will unify their voices to reach to the ears of the whole world. The problems of the Kurds and the blacks must be resolved in a legal field and with mutual respect. The international community must not leave them alone. We call on conscious movements to stand up against the fascists who violate the rights of the black people and the Kurds."
