According to the report, the unnamed Turkish official, who requested anonymity, confirmed that Ankara started operations after talks with the Iraqi authorities in order to remove the fighters of the PKK from its borders and target their logistical capabilities.
“The plan is to establish temporary bases in the region, to prevent the use of purified areas for the same purpose again … There are already more than 10 temporary bases, and new rules will be established,” noting that “the Turkish campaign will continue … there is no time period for the operation … the process will continue until its objectives are achieved," the official stated.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that it summoned the Turkish ambassador again and delivered him a strongly worded note of protest, “calling for the end of such provocative acts.”
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry stated that condemn this Turkish military operation in the strongest terms and demand that Ankara immediately halt all hostilities.
The ministry stressed “the necessity of the Turkish side’s commitment to stop the bombing, and to withdraw its aggressor forces from the Iraqi lands that it invaded yesterday and from its locations in Bashiqa camp and others,” pointing out that “the Iraqi government confirms that Turkey was the cause of increased insecurity in the border area shared between us.”
Attacks accompanied by a large number of victims are carried out against the civilian population, law enforcement officers, and diplomatic missions of other states.
Islamic State or IS are responsible for some of the attacks. A common tactic is to undermine mined cars, as well as suicide bombings. Explosions are heard in mosques, markets, restaurants, during the funeral.
