AKP is seeking to sieze power: HDP Mardin head

<p style="text-align:left">The head of Turkey pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Mardin province blamed it ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) policies and stated that the party is seeking to sieze power in the country.

Salih Kudai told KurdPress about the imprisonment of the HDP co-mayor in Batman that the government in Ankara has jailed the mayor on baseless accusations.
Kudai stressed that, by the move, the AKP wants to appoint its affiliated trustees and mayors for the municipalites, an attempt which is both illegal and a move to sieze power.
They have arrested the Batman mayor over his membership in a civil organisation which has been founded according to Turkey's constitution, the official told KurdPress.
Kudai noted that the goal behind the policies is to shut down civil organisations both the Kurdish and Turkish ones.

Kudai previously told KurdPress in an interview that the AKP is seeking to make the HDP to halt political activities and politics and ultimately destroy the party.

Pointing to the removal and imprisonment of HDP parliament members by the Turkish government, the joint chairman of the HDP in Mardin, Salih Kudai, told KurdPress in the interview that these illegal actions are attempts to weaken the HDP and disappoint it.

He went on to add that the AKP and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) know well that the HDP is the only party which can stand against them and that is why they use every possible way to make the situation harder for the Kurdish party.

Until now, the co-leaders of the HDP, mayors affiliated with the party and a large number of the party members have been arrested by AKP and are imprisoned. The AKP goal is clearly known and that is to make the HDP to stop political attempts.

Asked what the HDP plan is to achieve the votes of Kurdish citizens, Salih Kudai explained: "The HDP is not only a Kurdish party. HDP is not merely seeking to free a nation but also wants to serve all Turkish nations.

The joint chairman of the HDP in Mardin reiterated that the party is a national party and supports democracy and all free thinking.
