SOMO manager says Erbil has sent no oil or money to Baghdad despite budget obligations

General Manager Iraq’s oil marketer SOMO Ala Yasseri said on Saturday, September 18, that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has not delivered any quantity of crude oil or its monetary equivalent to the federal government, despite its obligations under the 2021 Federal Budget Law.

"The KRG should hand over 250,000 barrels of oil per a day to the federal government at the price set by SOMO,” Yasseri told the state-owned Iraqi News Agency.

The budget passed in March, but many elements related to the Kurdistan Region have not been implemented because of persistent disagreements between Erbil and Baghdad over the Region’s share and its obligations with regard to oil and customs duties.
