The registration process for the new Kurdish party called the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) in Diyarbakir, Turkey, has been completed and the party will officially enter the Turkish political arena on December 12 this year with its first congress to be held in Diyarbakir.

According to the Duvar newspaper, Rashid Akinci, the party's founder and chairman, said in a statement referring to the party's founding goals that "The goal of the party is to organize the youth and protect national awareness. From 1956 onwards, people who followed a patriotic party style left us. The youth could not inherit them. People like Hamid Qelic Aslan, Mullah Emad al-Din, Darvish Sadoo, etc. left us and their place was not filled. Now, together with the youth, we will protect their heritage."
